Rug Hack- Combining Two 5'7 Rugs

I saw the perfect rug for my bedroom on clearance but of course, it was only for a 5x7 size and I needed at least an 8x10 to go under our king bed.

I decided to test out and grab two of the 5x7 rugs with the intention of putting them together to make one big rug. They were only $30 each where as the 8x10 was $200 so I figured I'd give it a shot. The rug had a lot of designs going on so I had a feeling my idea would work. I ordered these Gorilla Grip Rug Grippers on Amazon to "tape" the rug together so it wouldn't separate.

I got an 8 pack because the trouble spot for me was the connection of the 2 rugs. I started by lining up the rugs as close as I could get to each other. I had to make sure the connection of the 2 was as flush as it could be and the borders on the edge of the rugs also lined up.

The Gorilla Grip grippers have a rug side and a floor side. The reviews said they don't damage your floors which I was worried about at first. I used the grippers right on the connection of the 2 rugs to secure them together.

Here is a close up of the final result

And a full view of the two rugs gripped together. I am happy with it. I am not sure if it is for everyone but if you're looking to save a few bucks this defiantly is an option!!

Hope this helps you if you come across this!

  1. Rugs brighten up a room and give warmth and comfort for those who walk, sit and sometimes lie on the rugs. When placed on top of the carpet, they protect the carpet from traffic, spills and abrasive soils thus slowing down the wear process and protecting your carpet. HorseScoutDesign
